Where have all the flowers gone?

Those electrifying Saturdays we counted from the middle of June are again history and marked with a lot of W’s and L’s, but we wouldn't trade them for anything.

A few scattered games remain from the regular college schedule and three top notch conference championship games make our fall easier to deal with from an emotional standpoint.

As we move into December, we may be heading into one of the better pro endings as far as determining who wins what and how we approach playoff football.

When you lay 11/10, you have a disadvantage from Jump Street, but you do have a choice as to where to put your cheese and at what time during the week. Striking has changed a lot over the course of the last generation of betting.

Sunday was a good example from taking to laying points in the Vikings game. Although it wasn't the most cosmetic game, and needing a flag to help ensure the win, Vikings backers with early and late money got the dough.

That was one of the bigger moves of the year that involved a pro game. You might be seeing more of this as the schedule unwinds the next five weeks.

On the short list of teams playing for money and new contracts: the Cowboys, Bengals, Broncos and Cardinals. Bengals and Broncos fit the mold perfectly.

Not that Denver was looking to challenge anyone for top honors, but the season is now toast and maybe its young staff will all pay the price from bad games to taping practice and selling all those Tebow shirts.

Pride steps up but usually leaves you with more losers than winners down the stretch. The Bengals are in a class all by themselves, coming off a fair year and looking like a contender in the division with Pittsburgh and Baltimore.

The only way your going to see the Bengals on TV in January is watching the two Musketeers fronting their reality show. So a -4 might become a -6 real quick if you look to fade these spots. The guess from your standpoint is how much is enough or not enough.

That’s where the 11/10 kicks in. We put them up; you push them one way or another. By the way, all three judges had it 120-108 for Glen Johnson.

Take care,
Jimmy V.
