Betcha Didn't Know
If you start me up I’ll never stop.
You got me ticking,
gonna blow my top.
Ride the wind at double speed,
I’ll take you places that you’ve
never, never seen.”
There’s nothing quite like the
start of the NFL season. It signals
the beginning of fi ve straight
months of wall-to-wall football action,
concluding with Super Bowl XLV in
Arlington, Texas on February 6, 2011.
It’s also a time when we fi re up the
old database, tweaking many reliable
moneymaking systems and angles
while also searching out new nuggets
to add to our arsenal.
And whenever we crank up the
database, we also turn on the Bose
Music System. Because, around my
offi ce, system-searching and music go
hand-in-hand.
Like a ribeye steak and baked potato,
or Tom Brady and Randy Moss, the
two work best when paired together.
When it comes to drilling the database
for untapped ‘Black Gold’ or ‘Texas
Tea,’ unlike a BP oil spill, there is
negligible damage and little cleanup
involved when it comes to unearthing
new handicapping resources.
And speaking of double-entendres,
‘Start Me Up’ is a song by The Rolling
Stones featured on the 1981 album
‘Tattoo You.’ It reached No. 2 on the
Billboard Hot 100 and No. 7 on the UK
Singles Chart.
Throughout the song Mick Jagger
breaks in with a repeated bridge
of “You make a grown man cry,”
followed by various pronouncements
of his and his partner’s sexual nature.
Although the lyrics to the song might
be read as double-entendres referring
to motorcycle racing, they are clearly
sexual in nature.
One of the sexiest plays in the NFL
happens each year in Game One of
the season. According to our database,
which is all wound up and ready to go,
you would do well if you were to –
As the results show, there is no better
way to start the season than above,
especially for teams that were on the
cusp of enjoying a winning campaign
last year, only to fall just short. That’s
because teams in this role are 34-17-1 ATS since 1980. FYI: this season fi nds
Carolina, Denver and San Francisco
ready to get the party started.
By pairing our self-starters in a nondivision
game we increase the winning
record 19-6-1 ATS, including 17-2-1
ATS if they’re taking on a non-division
foe they defeated in their most recent
meeting.
And as you’ve come to expect, there
is a 17-0-1 ATS perfect subset to this
theory. To fi nd out what the missing

With the 2010 NFL season right
around the corner, it’s time to turn up
the volume, sit back, listen and enjoy.
Whatever you’re into, it should be a
rewarding experience if you follow
Mick’s advice as he croons:
Don’t make a grown man cry…
kick on the starter,
give it all you’ve got.
If you rough it up, if you
start me up, I’ll never stop.
