The Baltimore Ravens are tied for the best
record in the AFC and coming off of an emotional win on Sunday Night Football over the Pittsburgh Steelers. They could be up against it in spite of the fact that they are favored on the Week 10 NFL betting lines this week when they travel to CenturyLink Field to face the Seattle Seahawks.
Kickoff from the Apple State is set for 4:05 p.m. (ET), and there will be regional television coverage available on CBS.
The Ravens (6-2 SU, 5-3 ATS) come into this one on Cloud Nine. Baltimore is now ranked No. 3 in our Don Best Linemakers Poll and largely considered the third favorite on the Super Bowl odds as well, generally right around 8/1.
That being said, the team has had some shaky moments on the road. Sure, last week's win came at Heinz Field, and it was inevitably one of the biggest victories that any team has had at any point over the course of this season. However, we cannot forget about horrible losses like the 12-7 defeat at the Jacksonville Jaguars and the 26-13 setback to the Tennessee Titans that is looking worse and worse.
Both of those teams are ranked in the bottom third of the Don Best Linemakers Poll, just as the Seahawks are at No. 31.
The numbers for Joe Flacco just aren't that special this year, as he only has completed 54.7 percent of his passes and has a 9/6 TD/INT ratio. In the two losses, Joe Cool threw for just 167.0 YPG with two scores against three picks and a passer rating under 55.0.
Even though Seattle (2-6 SU, 4-3-1 ATS) is in the dumps and clearly only looking forward to the NFL Draft, it remains a team that plays significantly better ball at home than on the road. The Seahawks have a win over the Arizona Cardinals, a narrow loss thanks to a long missed field goal at the gun against the Atlanta Falcons, and a 34-12 loss against the Cincinnati Bengals in a game that was a one-score contest with less than five minutes to play.
The problem that this team has is under center. Charlie Whitehurst has proven over the last two seasons that he doesn't have the chops to be an NFL starting quarterback, and Tarvaris Jackson is largely proving the same thing. After missing two games with a pectoral injury, Jackson has come back to the lineup and thrown for 544 yards and four picks without a touchdown. The team has also only averaged 12.5 PPG since then as well.
To make matters worse, the Seahawks don't have a running game either. Marshawn Lynch did have a nice day last week, running for a season-high 135 yards and a TD against the Dallas Cowboys, but the team still ranks No. 30 in the league at just 88.2 YPG on the ground.
These two teams have only met a handful of times dating back to the days when the Ravens were known as the Cleveland Browns. The home team has won all five meetings since 1993, and the hosts also have a 4-0-1 ATS record in that stretch.
Keep an eye on the 'over' as well, as the Seahawks have gone 7-2-1 towards the 'over' in their last 10 games as home underdogs, while the Ravens are 5-2 for 'over' bettors in their last seven as favorites.
The Ravens are 6 ½-point favorites on Sunday afternoon. The total has risen from 39 ½ at the open to 41 as of Thursday afternoon despite the weather report calling for temperatures in the mid-40s with showers persisting throughout the day.
